Grading and playing up information

Please find the following information from BABA in regards to grading and playing up.

Grading

The BABA committee have spent many hours looking at teams in all divisions over the first 4 rounds. We are pleased to say that in the majority of divisions the grading week has proven to be a success.

In saying that, all age groups have been reviewed, and so far, there have been grading changes made in the following age groups only:

  • U12 BOYS

  • U12 GIRLS

  • U14 BOYS

  • U14 GIRLS

  • U16 BOYS

  • U21 BOYS

  • MENS

  • WOMENS – There may be further changes prior to Thursday Night as we seek an additional A Grade Women’s Team

Please thoroughly check the fixtures. Even if a team has not been moved, the whole age groups fixtures have been amended.

All grading requests were taken into consideration and all decisions have been made with a lot of discussion and deliberation. Teams have been looked at with their abilities and skills in mind, and the competitiveness of games played over just the wins and losses.

Playing Up (Fill in Players)

Please make sure to follow this procedure.

Procedure

  1. Ensure the player is of the permitted age to play up (see attached this season’s age groups) – Players are not permitted to play across a division (eg: U14 C grade to U14 B grade) A player may also only play up a maximum of 4 times in the above age division per season.

  2. See the Court Coordinator at least 15 minutes before the game to complete the “Approval to add Players Courtside” form.

  3. Only the Court Coordinator or an Umpire is permitted to add a player to the iPad. No player will be added to the iPad unless the form has been completed with the Court Coordinator.

  4. The player must be given a proper uniform to wear with no duplicate numbers on court.

If a form has not been filled out with the Court Coordinator, and a player has been added courtside, the game will be deemed a forfeit due to a team playing an illegal player.

BABA By-Laws

Please familiarise yourself with the By-laws as we often refer to there.
